The Soursop (Annona muricata) is a broadleaf, flowering, evergreen tree native to Mexico, Cuba, Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America: Colombia, Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Soursop is also native to sub-Saharan African countries that lie within the tropics. Today, it is also grown in some areas of Southeast Asia. It was most likely brought from Mexico to the Philippines by way of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade. It is in the same genus as the chirimoya and the same family as the pawpaw.

The soursop is adapted to areas of high humidity and relatively warm winters; temperatures below 5 °C (41 °F) will cause damage to leaves and small branches, and temperatures below 3 °C (37 °F) can be fatal. The fruit becomes dry and is no longer good for concentrate.

Other common names include: guanábana (Spanish), graviola (Portuguese), Brazilian pawpaw, guyabano, corossolier, guanavana, toge-banreisi, durian benggala, nangka blanda, sirsak, and nangka londa. In Malayalam, it is called mullaatha , literally thorny custard apple. The other lesser known Indian names are shul-ram-fal and hanuman fal. In Sri Lankan mythology, Lord Rama and his disciple Hanuman are believed to have consumed this fruit on their way to Lanka.
Its flavor has been described as a combination of strawberry and pineapple with sour citrus flavor notes contrasting with an underlying creamy flavor reminiscent of coconut or banana.
The flesh of the fruit consists of an edible, white pulp and a core of indigestible, black seeds. The species is the only member of its genus that is suitable for processing and preservation. The sweet pulp is used to make juice, as well as candies, sorbets, and ice cream flavorings.
In Mexico and Colombia, it is a common fruit, often used for dessert as the only ingredient, or as an agua fresca beverage; in Colombia, it is a fruit for juices, mixed with milk. Ice cream and fruit bars made of soursop are also very popular. The seeds are normally left in the preparation, and removed while consuming.
In Indonesia, dodol sirsak, a sweetmeat, is made by boiling soursop pulp in water and adding sugar until the mixture hardens. Soursop is also a common ingredient for making fresh fruit juices that are sold by street food vendors. In the Philippines, it is called guyabano, obviously derived from the Spanish guanabana, and is eaten ripe, or used to make juices, smoothies, or ice cream. Sometimes, they use the leaf in tenderizing meat. In Vietnam, this fruit is called mãng cầu Xiêm in the south, or mãng cầu in the north, and is used to make smoothies, or eaten as is. In Cambodia, this fruit is called tearb barung, literally "western custard-apple fruit." In Malaysia, it is known in Malay as durian belanda and in East Malaysia, specifically among the Dusun people of Sabah, it is locally known as lampun. Popularly, it is eaten raw when it ripens. Usually the fruits are taken from the tree when they mature and left to ripen in a dark corner, whereby they will be eaten when they are fully ripe. It has a white flower with a very pleasing scent, especially in the morning.
Nutritionally, the fruit is high in carbohydrates, particularly fructose. The fruit also contains significant amounts of vitamin C, vitamin B1, and vitamin B2. The fruit, seeds, and leaves have a number of herbal medicinal uses among indigenous peoples of regions where the plant is common.
There is evidence indicating that the fruit's extracts selectively inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells by downregulating expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in vitro and in a mouse model, but the effect has not been studied in humans.
Research carried out in the Caribbean has suggested a connection between consumption of soursop and atypical forms of Parkinson's disease due to the very high concentration of annonacin.
According to Cancer Research UK, Annona muricata is an active principle in an unlicensed herbal remedy marketed under the brand name Triamazon. Triamazon is not licensed for medicinal use and the sale of the product resulted in a conviction on four counts of selling unlicensed medical products, and other charges, for a vendor in the United Kingdom.
Essiac (Native American Cancer Tea)
Basic Essiac tea recipe: These are the proportions used of the four basic ingredients in the preparation of Essiac tea: Burdock Root (cut) 52 ounces, Sheep Sorrel (powder) 16 ounces, Slippery Elm Bark (powder) 4 ounces, Turkey Rhubarb Root (powder) 1 ounce. Brew tea using water in proportion of two gallons of water for every eight ounces of dry ingredients. (The mixed combination above) Boil for ten minutes, then leave covered on stove for 6 to 12 hours. (Do not microwave) Reheat a second time, without boiling. Strain and refrigerate. Do not eat 2 hours before nor after drinking tea for full effectiveness.
You can buy Essiac in stores. It attacks cancer cells. It's not as powerful as the other organic treatments suggested here, but taking Essiac along with other treatments would be good. There are no known complications from combining Essiac simultaneously with other forms of cancer treatment.
Essiac or Essiac Tea is a blend of herbs used to make a tea that is believed by some to have cancer-treating properties. Originally used by Native American tribal medicine men, the recipe was rediscovered by a Canadian nurse, Rene Caisse, R.N. in 1922, as she was attending to a woman who had previously cured her breast cancer with an herbal remedy given to her by a North American Indian shaman in the 1890s. Known as "Nurse Caisse" or "Miss Caisse", Rene named her version of the recipe — her last name spelled backwards. She continued to help people suffering with cancer up until she died in 1978.
In 1959, Caisse was working with Fawcett Publishing editor, Ralph Daigh and a major Boston hospital to conduct major testing on Essiac's effectiveness. These efforts led to her involvement with John F. Kennedy's personal physician, Dr. Charles A. Brusch, MD, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1989, Dr. Brusch revealed that he had cured his own cancer using Essiac daily since his own cancer was discovered in 1984. Dr. Brusch continued Caisse's Essiac work after her death. The origin of the Essiac formula is believed to have its roots in native Canadian Ojibwa (Midewiwin) medicine. The basic Essiac formula contains greater burdock root (Arctium lappa), slippery elm inner bark (Ulmus rubra, formerly known as Ulmus fulva), sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella), and Indian or Turkish rhubarb root (Rheum officinale).
With respect to the use of Essiac in treating cancer, the U.S. National Institutes of Health's Medline states that as of early 2008: "Currently, there is not enough evidence to recommend for or against the use of this herbal mixture as a therapy for any type of cancer. Different brands may contain variable ingredients, and the comparative effectiveness of these formulas is not known. None of the individual herbs used in Essiac has been tested in rigorous human cancer trials (rhubarb has shown some anti-tumor properties in animal experiments; slippery elm inner bark has not; sheep sorrel and burdock have been used traditionally in cancer remedies). Numerous individual patient testimonials and reports from manufacturers are available on the Internet, although these cannot be considered scientifically viable as evidence. Individuals with cancer are advised not to delay treatment with more proven therapies."
Pau d'Arco as a Cancer Treatment
Could an ancient South American Indian folk medicine cure many types of cancer? Physicians and former cancer patients say yes. This has been widely reported on in newspapers in Latin America, but not in the U.S.
South American physicians are using Indian folk medicine to successfully treat various forms of cancer - including leukemia - and other debilitating disease, but news of the cures has not made it into the American media.
According to reports published in various South American periodicals prior to the establishment-imposed blackout, the inner bark of two South American trees of the Bignoniaceae family are used successfully in the treatment of various diseases, including cancer.
A brew made with the inner bark of Lapacho Colorado (Tabebuia Avellanedae) or Lapacho Morado (Tabebuia Altissima) seems to attack the cause of the disease, according to medical reports.
Lapacho Colorado, or red lapacho - so called because of its scarlet flowers - grows in the warmer part of South America: Brazil, northern Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia etc. It was commonly used by the medicine men of the Guarani and Tupi-Nambo Indians long before the advent of the Spanish in the New World.
Another name for the lapachos is ipes, a name used in southern Brazil. Red lapacho is called ipe roxo. Still another name for the trees is pau d'arco; red lapacho is called pau d'arco roxo. "Pau d'arco" means "bow stick"; the natives use the wood to make their bows for archery.
The red lapacho is very common in its range, the tropical lowlands.The lapacho morado, or purple lapacho, grows in cooler climes - in the Andes, for example. In its range, it is not rare.
Red lapacho was discovered by the white man's medicine some 20 years ago at Americana - a suburb of Sao Paulo, Brazil. That was where several hundred Confederate families homesteaded at the invitation of Emperor Dom Pedro II after the South was lost.

South American Cancer Tonic
I've heard of a village in South America where no one has died of cancer in hundreds of years because they make a cancer tonic. The tonic is made with these ingredients:
Red Clover blossom, Licorice root, Buckthorn bark, Burdock root, Stillingia root, Poke root, Barberry root, Oregon Grape root, Cascara Sagrada bark, Prickly Ash bark, Wild Indigo root, and Sea Kelp.
But I don't know the portions of those ingredients, or any aspect of how it's prepared. All I know is that those are the ingredients for the tonic. All those ingredients are mixed together in some manner, and prepared in some way, and given to the cancer patient, and it treats the cancer. Further investigation is needed before I can say any specifics.
Dr. Bill Sardi has found an effective cancer treatment called glycoprotein macrophage activating factor. The actual mixture is stuck in perpetual patent hell due to red tape from the drug companies, but health food stores carry all the ingredients for a serum that you can make at home which mimics the effects of it. In other words, mix the following ingredients for a dose of a cancer serum: 10,000 IU vitamin D3, 100 mg resveratrol and same of quercetin, 4000mg of IP6 rice bran, 12000 mg of flaxseed oil, and sprinkle on some crushed garlic clove. Take that cancer serum every other day.
